Welcome to this humble but professional website. As the title suggests, GeoAsset Notes is my personal note-taking and knowledge-sharing platform. I created it to facilitate inclusive discussions about the mineral industry and to share my expertise and services with stakeholders who may need them.

01 / Writing With Purpose

This website will mainly talk about my perspectives and areas of expertise, especially the technology, knowledge, economy, and policies surrounding Indonesia’s mineral industry. Please keep in mind that what I write here reflects my personal opinions and knowledge. It does not represent any company, institution, or other entity. These notes are written in good faith and with respect for different perspectives.

Although our responsibilities are different, I believe we are dealing with parts of the same larger system. I hope you who read it, will enjoy the content and share your own perspectives on how we can support the advancement of the mineral industry.

02 / Different Roles, One Shared Industry

Now, let me begin with several questions.

• To my fellow industry practitioners: have you ever wondered how impactful your technical work is in advancing mineral mining and downstreaming?
• Hello, executives! Do you need help understanding how capital can be allocated meaningfully across a mining business?
• To friends in HR: have you thought about how to hire and develop professionals who can run mining organisations effectively and fit within them?
• To my public servant friends: how can your policy recommendations help the mineral industry remain strong and continue contributing to our economy?
• To teachers and lecturers on campuses: how can we improve students’ knowledge and readiness to meet current professional requirements?

I ask these questions mainly because I believe all of your work contributes to the advancement of the mineral industry. In fact, I have seen how important and impactful your work can be.

How wonderful would it be if we could set aside our differences and combine our expertise to create a more meaningful impact? I believe that all of our work within the mineral industry is interconnected. Better synergy between our roles could improve both productivity and the value that we create.

03 / Learning How the Functions Connect

In my experience, I had the opportunity to lead a multi-department team that collectively succeeded in completing a nickel-downstreaming project. The project showed me that success did not come from one department alone. It came from different people bringing their responsibilities, knowledge, and experience towards the same goal.

At the same time, my love for geology encouraged me to continue pursuing geological knowledge and learning how it connects with the mineral industry as a whole. That is why I tried to step modestly into related functions and understand how we could work more synergically. I did not expect to become an expert in every function. I simply wanted to understand how each part connects with the others.

On other occasions, I have also observed the gaps that can make mineral organisations struggle to reach their full potential. These gaps are not always caused by a lack of capable people or technical knowledge. Sometimes, different functions do not fully understand each other’s priorities, information, or working processes.

Therefore, I am now trying to look more closely at management-level questions. I want to understand how the working systems within mineral organisations, where the working system can be practically improved. Also, how those systems should respond to problems more effectively.

04 / Lets Connect

For like-minded people, I know the difficulty and uncertainty of proving your value within such a complicated system. I feel you. It can be a long, and perhaps never-ending, process to demonstrate your value while continuing to support your team and communities.

However, on the upside, you should know that your work matters, even when its impact is not immediately visible. Your contribution may sometimes appear small or disconnected, but it can become much more meaningful when it is understood and connected with the work of others.

GeoAsset Notes is my modest effort to support that connection. I hope this platform can become a place where we exchange knowledge, question our assumptions, understand different perspectives, and learn from one another.
